Daily Agenda 8-22/8-25

Honor Juniors

Juniors- August 22nd-25th

Weekly: Standards and Personal Objectives: 11R4- Students will apply knowledge of organizational structures.  11W18- Students will write a multi-paragraph essay, 11W21-26- Students will apply 6-traits of writing, 11R.1.5.1 Students will read a variety of genres.

Monday- Teacher will remind students to check weekly blog and briefly discuss agenda items.

Students will correct the following sentences:

the French poodle was taken to uptown grooming shop
Combine the sentences:
The chef cut fish. The chef was oriental. The chef was mad.

 Students will write a 200 word journal/ quote analysis: “A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.Ayn Rand
The students will view a teacher-prepared PowerPoint and take notes on organizational patterns most common in literature.  Read chapter 4 in Everything’s An Argument and answer question 1.

Tuesday- Students will correct the following sentences:

in english our class enjoyed the book roll of thunder, hear my cry
Combine the sentences:
The restaurant served breakfast. Jill didn’t want to go there.

Write a 200 word journal/ quote analysis:Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does.William James The teacher will present the story, “Oh, the places you’ll go” written by Dr. Seuss.  Students will brainstorm places they would like to go. Proper nouns and common nouns will be sorted. The teacher will lead discussion dissecting the text’s organizational pattern. In coop. Groups, students will create a plot diagram of the story based on the 4 organizational patterns used. Class will discuss pros and cons to each model. Students will then brainstorm ideas for their own children’s book about success incorporating specific organizational patterns. Read chapter 5 in Everything’s An Argument and answer question 3 (be prepared to present and discuss Wednesday).


Wednesday- Students will correct the following sentences:

has you visited the Kansas state fair wendy
Combine the following sentences:
The milk is sour. Tom left it out. The milk is chocolate.

 

The students will take a randomized essential facts quiz and graph their scores.  Students will present and discuss homework. Class will begin to read chapter 6 and finish as homework.

Thursday- Students will complete the weekly quiz. In cooperative groups, answer question 5 on pg. 173 of text utilizing Toulmin analysis guide on pg. 170. The teacher will model how to write the “Why Us” question for college scholarships. “Why is our college a good choice for you?”

Monday- Teacher will remind students to check weekly blog and briefly discuss agenda items.

Students will correct the following sentences:

Combine the sentences:
The juice is orange. The juice is gross. The juice is spilled.
Students will write a 200-word journal/quote analysis: “Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later.” Og Mandino The teacher will show class a PowerPoint on literary elements and the class will take notes.

Write a 200 word journal/ quote analysis: “Be gentle to all and stern with yourself.Saint Teresa of Avila. Students will be placed in cooperative groups and read selected children’s stories creating a group plot diagram, which also integrates point of view, tone, and theme.


Wednesday- Students will correct the following sentences:

Jill is an only child. She is spoiled. She is allowed to do anything.

The students will take a randomized essential facts quiz and graph their scores.  Students will play literary elements online games.
