Junior and Senior Assignments for the Week of September 8-10, 2015





Seniors

Monday- LABOR DAY- NO SCHOOL





Tuesday-   Students read the first ten minutes of class.  The teacher will pass out the Annotating wksht and review with students.  Students will then watch former President Bush deliver his address to Congress regarding the attacks of 9/11 via YouTube found at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7guq5gIeyIk.  Students will then annotate the speech deciphering how the President Bush’s tone and word choice reflect rhetorical features with teacher modeling and guided practice.



Wednesday- Students will respond to the journal prompt by writing a minimum of 200 words. Students will complete a quote analysis in their journal.  Students will write a five paragraph essay reflecting their annotations and feelings regarding the previous day's reading.



Thursday- Students will be given 10-15 minutes silent reading time for pleasure. Students will get into groups and review their peer's essay, noting grammatical inconsistencies and offering suggestions for cohesive and fluent syntax. Students will then correct their essays over the weekend and resubmit a final copy Monday.



Juniors
Monday- LABOR DAY- NO SCHOOL


Tuesday- Students will be given 10-15 minutes silent reading time for pleasure. Students will watch the theatrical rendition of Macbeth in order to prepare for the literary unit.

Wednesday- Students will respond to the journal prompt by writing a minimum of 200 words.  Students will continue to watch the theatrical rendition of Macbeth in order to prepare for the literary unit.
Thursday- Students will be given 10-15 minutes silent reading time for pleasure.  Students will finish watching the theatrical rendition of Macbeth in order to prepare for the literary unit.
