Junior and Senior Assignments for the week of October 26-29, 2015



Seniors
Monday- Students will add to their 3000 word short story.  Students will then take notes on a YouTube presentation regarding organizational structures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ukrz4MBmpY&index=5&list=PLV_eW9tSxewfmUaN4qIyPLIToP6S7m-Aj. Students will then view the painting of Café Fortune Teller by Mary Hoover Aiken and write a description of the painting starting with the image of the artist and moving near to far or far to near. Students will also answer two comprehension questions that coincide with the portrait. 

Tuesday- Students will be given 10-15 minutes silent reading time for pleasure.  Students will read Ann Hodgman’s essay, No Wonder They Call Me a Bitch” and answer the style and structure questions that coincide.

Wednesday- Students will add to their 3000 word short story. Students will analyze the picture of Major League Baseball Brawl and answer coinciding questions, which reflect cause and effect structure. 

Thursday- Students will be given 10-15 minutes silent reading time for pleasure. Students will read Norman Cousins, Who Killed Benny Paret? And answer both Purpose and Audience Questions as well as Style and Structure Questions.






Juniors
Monday- Students will add to their 3000 word short story. Students will watch a video and take brief notes on satire. Students will then write their own 200 word satire and share with their classmates. 
Tuesday- Students will be given 10-15 minutes silent reading time for pleasure. Students will be assigned a project entitled, “Making My Own Satire,” and begin planning and creating such project.
Wednesday- Students will add to their 3000 word short story.  Students will continue working on their Satire Project.

Thursday- Students will be given 10-15 minutes silent reading time for pleasure. Satire Projects will be presented. Students will then watch a short YouTube video regarding irony and take notes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaTOR5bEq00
Students will then write two examples for each type of irony discussed.
