Monday- No School
Tuesday- Essays are due. All students will complete the journal for the first ten minutes of class.
Seniors will read Jonathan Swift’s
short story, “A Modest Proposal” noting how point of view affects a reader’s
perception of events.
Juniors will read/annotate Martin
Luther King Jr’s “I Have a Dream” speech specifically analyzing how the author
manipulates language in order to create a tone and enhance rhetoric.
Wednesday- All students will complete the journal for the first ten minutes of class.
Seniors will continue and
complete their reading of Jonathan Swift’s short story, “A Modest Proposal” and
write a 5-paragraph essay depicting how point of view affects a reader’s
perception of events.
Juniors will read/annotate Malcom
X’s “ Confronting White Oppression” speech specifically analyzing how the
author manipulates language in order to create a tone and enhance rhetoric.
Thursday- All students will complete the journal for the first ten
minutes of class.
Seniors will listen to a
children’s story read aloud by the teacher and then in cooperative groups,
rewrite the children’s story from a different point of view.
Juniors will write a five-paragraph
essay synthesizing how both authors manipulate language in order to create tone
and enhance rhetoric, directly quoting both selections in each paragraph in
order to provide evidence for your claims and analysis.
