Seniors
Monday- Students will complete their journal and ACT prep the
first ten minutes of class. Students will write the new 2nd quarter
objectives and essential questions, which will be due Thursday. Students will read a selection from Thoreau
and also annotate for effective rhetoric.
Students will then create Venn Diagrams comparing Thoreau and Emerson.
Tuesday- Students will read the first ten minutes of
class. Students will write a comparison
essay regarding the rhetoric utilized in both Emerson and Thoreau’s works.
Wednesday- Students will complete their journal the first
ten minutes of class. Students annotate
Patrick Henry’s speech for syntactical elements.
Thursday- Journals
Due! Students will read the first ten minutes of class. Students will complete the rhetoric triangle
handouts regarding the syntactical elements discussed the previous day.
Juniors
Monday- Students will complete their journal and ACT prep the
first ten minutes of class. Students will write the new 2nd quarter
objectives and essential questions, which will be due Thursday. Students will write a five-paragraph essay
comparing the poets Bradstreet and Taylor and depicting what distinguishes one
poet’s work from the other.
Tuesday- Students will read the first ten minutes of
class. The class will read an excerpt
from “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God.”
Wednesday- Students will complete their journal the first
ten minutes of class. Students will answer SOAP questions for “Sinners in the
Hands of an Angry God.” Students must
answer questions with evidence from reading when possible.
Thursday- Journals Due! Students will read the first ten minutes of
class. Utilizing the IPADS, students
will complete theme analysis handout, “Things Fall Apart.”
